In 2018, Save the Children Jordan launched its Community Based Health Care Service Program to address the health of refugees living in Za’atari refugee camp by providing preventative and community- based health care services.
The program allows us to promote positive health practices and identify cases – through home visits and health campaigns – that should be referred to health care providers.
We also screen for specific health conditions such as communicable and non-communicable diseases and reproductive health, and offer awareness sessions on hygiene, food storage, jaundice, head lice, winter-related diseases such as influenza, seasonal diseases, and other outbreak diseases.
In addition, we regularly update health records and undertake needs assessments. Our access leverages the needed collaboration and coordination with health partners in the recruitment and training of health volunteers and data management.
