Founded in December 1974, under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal, Save the Children Jordan is driven by a strong desire to provide women and children with their basic needs. At the core of its humanitarian and development programs lies the belief that every child attains the right to survival, protection, development, and participation. Since joining the movement of Save the Children in the early 1990s, it has also become an active member in the International Federation of Children.
With programs that tackle a wide spectrum of prominent issues, Save the Children Jordan transforms the lives of more than half a million children and families every year. Its programs focus on the rights of children to protection and education, as well as the livelihood and health of vulnerable groups, regardless of who they are, or where they come from. The organization also provides a breadth of care and support to families and children, which aligns with the Convention on the Rights of Children and improves the overall childcare services.
The numerous benefits brought on by the work of the organization highlights its vital role in preserving the wellbeing of vulnerable children in Jordan. With its impact reaching every governate and refugee camp, it offers comprehensive early education programs, economically empower women, and proactively responds to child protection concerns, such as child abuse, child labor, and child marriages. Save the Children Jordan aspires to improve the overall health of the community, provide professional development and wellbeing programs, and give children the power to raise their voices against those responsible.
Save the Children Jordan stands fiercely among the leading change makers in the lives of children. But what makes its presence even more outstanding is that it is the only Arab member of the 29 Save the Children organization members that are operating in 117 different countries.
A world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation.
To inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
We will focus on inspiring three specific breakthroughs for children by 2030:
• Survive: No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
• Learn: All children learn from a quality basic education
• Be protected: Violence against children is no longer tolerated
We believe that all children, including the most deprived and marginalized, have the right to learn from a quality basic education and acquire the necessary knowledge and skills.
We ensure the coverage of proven, high impact maternal, new born and child health and nutrition interventions.
We strive to provide children with a decent life, where they can attain their basic rights to learn, survive, and have access to diverse opportunities.
Our comprehensive programs are tailored to ensure that we can protect children from all kinds of violence, abuse and exploitation.
